Prior to formal turnover of the system, operating and maintenance personnel receive full training in the correct operation of the system. In many cases, special operating and record-keeping procedures are developed for the facility operations people. This assures not only that the new system runs at the proper efficiency, but also that the operating data is available to monitor all phases of the system in use. Many seemingly unrelated functions — such as fuel consumption, chemical consumption, and heat loss — can be monitored from available water-usage data.
